Coufal will miss Kudus for sure. His defensive covering, pressing is a huge asset in addition to his attacking prowess. He doubles up with Coufal to help stop wingers and wing backs on an overload getting in behind to cross etc. Martinelli had no answer as he likes space to run into and there was none.

Everything from here on comes down to Steidten and his recruitment. We need strengthening in Jan just to compensate for Kudus at AFCON , injuries and cover for Alvarez who is also now a key player as we have no one to replace or rotate him with.

Fingers crossed Steidten has targets and can shift a few out to finance them

I never thought Oggy was totally finished after a couple of poor games, on the decline, yes, but he's way too good just to become totally shit. Dino's goal will give him a lot of confidence and make feel that he's put down a marker with the fans etc.

To be on 33 points for year end is huge, and it's looking like we are going to be giving ourselves a good chance of qualifying for Europe again via the league. Beating Brighton would be another big win.

Superb win without our first choice centre halves and Paqueta off
After Brighton on Jan 2 we have 19 days before our next league game at Sheff Utd. Doubt Paqueta would have played in the FA Cup anyway
Great end to the year with clean sheet League wins against Wolves, Man U & Arsenal

Couldn’t give a fuck about the Arsenal fans. Just happy West Ham won.

Let’s hope Paqueta isn’t out for too long. Him and Kudus will be huge misses.

Arsenal too slow in their attacks, look at how Liverpool played it fast hence the 5 goals.

Benrhama was an absolute disgrace, as per usual.
Can't shoot, can't pass, can't cross and can't or won't tackle. Honestly one of the worst players I've ever seen in our shirt.

Everyone else was supurb. Oggy was immense at the back.
What a player Emerson has become for us.

Yeh, what a pleasant surprise that was!
All of em worked hard and we thoroughly deserved the win. Shame it weren’t 3 just to rub it in. Gotta carry it on now against the Brighton piers and make it a proper happy new year.
Come on West Ham!

Great to see the little poof Tarteta crying again. Hahaha.

People comparing the way we play to the way Ali boxed has given me a right LAUGH.

Good job I'm still laughing at the Arsenal fans at the moment, so I'll let it slide.

I have the feeling the "penalty" would've been given if an Oggie wasn't being fouled by an arsenal lad (Saliba?) pulling his shorts in the opposite direction while making the challenge.

Wasn't expecting that as they say despite Arsenal's dominance with possession they never once looked like they'd score.
Credit where credit's due Moyes deserves all the accolades on this one.
Beat the next nemesis Brighton will show we maybe have turned a massive corner

Trossard, Jesus, and their crowd, constantly trying to buy decisions got a bit tedious. They love going over at the slightest touch an all.

That penalty shout of theirs should have been a booking for simulation for Saka.

Further proof (not that any were needed) that Keep dreaming is the most absolute and utter cunt of all time;

I'll definitely take the result every fucking day.

But it's fair to say 30 shots against in most games will be a few goals

77 passes in our box is the higher8 number ever counted.

Fuck Arsenal, but I cany wait to get ris of Moyes and the way we play.

Puts tin har in and leaves the room.

Any news on Paqueta? Hopefully it was just precautionary he came off as he was in the dug out watching.

Fantastic result tonight, brilliant defending and I don't mind when Moyes deployes his defensive nouse in games like this when it works, it was a masterclass in counter-attacking football. Still not sure if I want his contract renewing but iif we keep winning but playing more attacking football it will be hard to kick him out

That was fucking brilliant.

Football Italia,” you defend your goal like you’re all brothers, defending your Mothers honour.”
Can’t remember who said it, Paolo Maldini or one of ‘em.

Anyway, the defending, the organisation, the 100% tonight, that was it,

Fucking superb.

comma - the ‘trailing leg’ trick was the only thing I was concerned about for the whole game. Arsenal do it loads, and I thought VAR were going to send Oliver to the screen. Clear dive from Saka on review though.

They are coached to do it so that it’s second nature, almost as automatic as breathing. A detestable part of the game.

And yes, Ali vs Foreman is exactly what I was thinking.

Re: ⚽ Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
What’s being described is what Ali called “rope a dope”. Let the opposition burn itself out and hit them on the break making most of sparse opportunities.

Btw one thing to credit our defending for is the ability not to be conned into a penalty concession despite the amount of Arsenal’s occupation of the box.

Re: ⚽ Arsenal v West Ham - Official Match Thread - Preview
Jaan - yeah, I get that. I read on the ropes as desperately clinging on, taking too many punches and trying not to get knocked out. It didn’t feel like that kind of ‘on the ropes’ performance to me, it was more like soaking up the pressure but never really stretched and making last ditch tackles. I felt strangely calm for the whole game - maybe because I had the commentary off? Who knows!

Still buzzing!

I'd say having a entire team camped on the edge of their own box as against the ropes. But yeah the way we defended was brilliant. We frustrated them in not having space in the most dangerous areas and forced the wide to put crosses in. Suited us. Very risky though.
